“Now,” Cathryn said when we’d finished eating and the last of the papers was

returned to her briefcase, “let’s get to work on our other priority. Close your eyes,

Tasmyn. I want you to picture the energy that allows you to hear thoughts. Visualize it.

Got it?”

I had had some experience with this and so it was easy. I saw the power, my

most familiar ability, a swirling purple mist. “I’ve got it.”

“All right. Now take that same energy that flows out so easily, and make it solid.

It might take a few tries. Take your time.”

As soon as I heard her words, the mist began to take a more opaque form,

spreading out into a sort of wall. “I can see it. It’s like a solid plank. . .a wall maybe.”

“Excellent. Spread it all around your mind. Picture it protecting your thoughts.”

“I’ve done it. Now what?”

“Now I’m going to try to get through your wall. And you try to keep me out.”

I felt Cathryn’s assault right away. I envisioned the purple veil repelling each

attack. After a few moments, Cathryn said, “Good. Very good for a first try, actually. I

want you to keep working on it. Remember that you never know who around you might

have the same talent, and you could put yourself—and Carruthers—at risk if you don’t

guard your mind very carefully. Understand?”

I nodded. I hadn’t thought it before, but this whole operation was beginning to

feel like a covert mission.

“I heard that,” Cathryn said dryly. “You’re not entirely wrong, but have you ever

realized how often you jump to dramatic conclusions, Tasmyn? I’m a vampire,

Carruthers is a black ops organization. . .really, maybe you should write fiction.”

I concentrated on pulling the veil back over my mind before I replied. “If you had

been attacked by not one but two deranged witches and almost drowned by an

overzealous minister, all over the course of less than two years, none of those would

sound so crazy.”

Cathryn laughed, and for once it didn’t make me want to scratch her eyes out. “I

guess you have a point. And nice work. I can’t hear even one of your thoughts. Keep it

up, Tasmyn. You’re off to a good start.”

Indie Pubbing...good experience or hard road?

Self-publishing is the easiest, most amazing experience I’ve ever endured. **Ahem.** HA HA. If you’re a writer, then I’m certain I didn’t fool you. It’s a LOT of hard work. And let me tell you, I respect every other indie author out there that’s successfully marketing their book and making sales. When self-pubbing, there are extra fees and expenses that you eat up front with hopes of making back in book revenue. But be prepared to lose that money too, so keep that in mind when figuring out your book budget. Indie authors are on their own with hiring a professional editor—which I highly recommend (mine is Stephen Delaney with Close Reader Editing)—getting a dramatic book cover created—I use Claudia with PhatpuppyArt (and trust me, a lot of people judge a book by its cover)—policing the publishing company since they seem to screw up your manuscript during their formatting procedure, and then waiting patiently for the finals to arrive. Though, if you have the time, Amazon and Smashwords offer free epubbing books that teach you how to do it yourself, but if you want a paperback or hard copy of your book, you’ll still need to hire a formatting company, unless you know how to do this. With Crimson Flames, I did my own formatting and it saved me around $300.

And that’s just the beginning. Once your book is ready, it’s time to spread the word, market it everywhere, and seek wonderful book bloggers to review it, host interviews and giveaways—all the while praying they’ll love it and give it a good rating. Honestly, it’s a full-time job just working on that, plus you’ve got to keep writing your next best seller too. So I highly recommend virtual release parties (I use Release Day Diva) to create a lot of hype for your book, and blog tours are just as important to get the additional exposure you need to make sales. I’ve worked with Bookish Brunette, Promotional Book Tours, and Lady Amber’s Tours and they are all fantastic. The tour prices range from around $50 to $300+ depending on what package you go with. Obviously, the more you spend, the more exposure you get.

UNTIMED by Andy Gavin

Untimed is an action-packed time travel novel by Andy Gavin, author of The Darkening Dream and creator of Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter.

Charlie’s the kind of boy that no one notices. Hell, even his own mother can’t remember his name. And girls? The invisible man gets more dates.

As if that weren’t enough, when a mysterious clockwork man tries to kill him in modern day Philadelphia, and they tumble through a hole into 1725 London, Charlie realizes even the laws of time don’t take him seriously.

Still, this isn’t all bad. In fact, there’s this girl, another time traveler, who not only remembers his name, but might even like him! Unfortunately, Yvaine carries more than her share of baggage: like a baby boy and at least two ex-boyfriends! One’s famous, the other’s murderous, and Charlie doesn’t know who the bigger problem is.

When one kills the other — and the other is nineteen year-old Ben Franklin — things get really crazy. Can their relationship survive? Can the future? Charlie and Yvaine are time travelers, they can fix this — theoretically — but the rules are complicated and the stakes are history as we know it.

And there's one more wrinkle: he can only travel into the past, and she can only travel into the future!

A lavish production with a cover by acclaimed fantasy artist Cliff Nielsen and twenty one full page interior illustrations by Dave Phillips.

Our review: The Chronicles Of Trellah, The Perpetual Rain By Author T.S. Graham was provided to Me In Exchange For And Honest Review.

This book takes the reader to an alien realm.  After a microburst storm causes problems on earth in a neighborhood where a few children are abducted. The book tells the story of how the families of these children work together to seek out and find them. As they search together, they encounter many strange alien creatures living out their different alien lifestyles. I consider this book very interesting and a wonderful read. This book is perfect for young adults who enjoy Sci-Fi. I give this book five stars.

About Author T.S. Graham

T.S. Graham was born and raised in midcoast Maine. He has worked as a sea urchin diver, fish monger, home renovator, and in several group homes for children and adults with disabilities. His original screenplay, Stone's Point, written as Clint Elliott, has won multiple awards. He studied English Literature at the University of Southern Maine, where, despite developing a strong dislike of the traditional curriculum focused on old, dead (and boring) scribes, he somehow managed to graduate with honors. His greatest influences are writers like Stephen King and Michael Crichton, whose talents would have allowed them to write more literary fare, but they chose to thrill and entertain instead. He now lives on a horse farm with his beautiful wife and five daughters, two poodles, two cats, two happy turtles, four playful ferrets, three fish, a corn snake named "Tiger," dozens of chickens, and, of course, four awesome equines.  I started this book and realized it was very different from the books I had been reading. The beginning was interested - and then it took a twist. When I was about 1/3 of the way through the book, I wasn't really sure if I wanted to continue reading it or not. When I hit the 1/2 way mark, it took another twist. With this I was unable to put the book down!!
With having a child who is a teacher, it seemed to really hit a certain place with me. But I did enjoy the way that the author kept adding twist to the storyline. It is amazing what trouble high school girls and a young cute male teacher can get into. Or do they??
This book had more twist that I thought possible - but, they were all twist that really make you want to continue reading.
If you are looking for something different to read - I recommend that you read "Nobody Has To Know".
I received a copy in return for my honest opinion
